– The NCDC has guaranteed Nigerians that most of the coronavirus patients in Nigeria will recoup – NCDC chief, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, in his projection, says 95 to 98 percent of the patients will recuperate without clinical mediation.
– According to him, the main motivation behind why the patients are kept in a disconnection community is to forestall transmission The Director-General, Nigeria Center for Disease Control,
Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, express 95 to 98 percent of coronavirus patients will recuperate independent of clinical intercession. Dr Ihekweazu expressed this on Wednesday, April 29 at the preparation of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja.
As per him, the main motivation behind why the patients are kept in a detachment community is to forestall transmission.
His words: “Many patients are asymptomatic and will recover.
The only reason we are keeping them in isolation and treatment centres is to prevent transmission to others as much as possible. “Five to 15 per cent depending, on where they are, will become severely ill and some will, unfortunately, pass away.
” At the moment, about 34 states have cases of coronavirus, but Ihekweazu warned that every state of the federation is at a high risk of the pandemic. He said: “So the idea that moving from one state to another qualifies you to be at higher risk really is no longer the case.
“The measures recommended globally are the same measure we recommend for everyone. “Therefore, whatever measures we have to do, we have to do it collectively, whether you are in the north, south, east or west.”
